Chaz Davies

Chaz Davies was born in Knighton (Wales) on February 10th 1987 and began his racing career at the age of eight when he made his debut in the British Mini Moto championship. He immediately demonstrated his talent by finishing fifth overall, and then by winning the title in both the following years. He moved up into the Aprilia Challenge 125cc Championship and finished runner-up in 2000. The following year, as well as racing in the British 125cc Championship in a family-run team, he took part in Spain's CEV series. In 2002 he again did some races in CEV and made his first appearance on the world scene in a full season with Team Matteoni Racing. He then switched to the 250cc class in 2003 where he stayed until 2006, but did not score many significant results.

The three-year period from 2007 to 2009 saw Chaz take part in the AMA Championship in the USA where he scored a win in the prestigious Daytona 200 Miles race. He then backed up an early end to the AMA series with his MotoGP debut in 2007 on a Pramac D'Antin Ducati machine, competing in three races. In 2009 he took part in three rounds of the Supersport World Championship with the ParkinGO BE1 team. With the Italian squad, Davies finished fourth overall in 2010, and then won the world championship in 2011.
The following year Chaz and his team moved up into the Superbike World Championship category, and the Welshman took one victory and won the Rookie of the Year award with ninth place overall in the final standings. These good results earned him a factory bike for 2013, a season in which his team-mate was Marco Melandri. Chaz finished the season in fifth place and stepped onto the top of the podium three times.

In 2014 Ducati made its official return to World Superbike with a factory team and Chaz Davies was one of two men chosen to ride the 1199 Panigale. In his first year with Ducati, he finished sixth overall in the championship, demonstrating the increasing competitiveness of the Panigale SBK. In the following season he scored the bike's first win at Aragon, and this was followed by victories at Laguna Seca (a double win), Sepang and Jerez. These results powered him to the runner-up slot in the championship. In 2016 he finished third overall in the final standings, but took the factory Panigale bike to eleven wins after dominating the final six rounds of the championship.
